I like this story. It's interesting, and well-done. Not too slow, but doesn't jump at you. Among my favorite aspects is that the actual wedding toast happens in the early pages, making me wonder 'what's the come?'

However, it does not appear to have been proofread.

There are so many typos, and even typesetting errors, not to mention issues with the most basic continuity.

For example, Craig and his wife are 7 years apart (he's 32; she's 25). But he describes himself as getting funny looks because he could be her father. He also refers to a bartender "probably in his late twenties" as half his age. So, is Craig 52, despite only being 13 in the year 1999?

The word "greasy" is overused.

There are missing words in sentences, and even basic descriptions get botched, such as when a part of a car is called the "left rear right wheel."

I'm currently on page 81, and plan to finish the story because it's good, but for this to be released as-is, is very disrespectful to the reading public.

I felt like I went on a delicious bender with this book. I needed to read something that sucked me in right away, and I truly couldn't put it down. I usually pride myself with being able to figure out a thriller at least halfway through, and this story truly took me for a ride. I love the way the author didn't try to pull the reader toward rooting for one character over another—reminds me of what I love so much about The Wire. As gut-punching and genius as the premise is, it's the deeply human details that really made me stop and re-read. The pacing is a slow burn that rewards you when you need it, and the dark humor came in at just the right moments. It was a different kind of thriller for me; one that felt juicy enough to give me the cheap thrills I was craving, but with surprisingly great depth and poetic justice. I absolutely loved this book and felt a beautiful darkness to it that I haven't come across in a very long time. Recommending this to everyone I know and can't wait to read Marinovich's other books.
